1. Collect precipitation measurements and current, maximum and minimum temperatures at the GLOBE weather station as often as possible for December, 1997, and January, February, 1998.
2. Collaborate with the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and the Model Secondary School for the Deaf to obtain their average temperatures.
3. Collect data from the National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. for comparison with our data.
4. Use the Measuring Units Conversion Tables web site to change Fahrenheit to Celsius and inches to millimeters.
5. Compare this data with averages for these months to determine the accuracy of forecasts.
(Further research will be done on precipitation and temperatures in Jackson to determine if there is a marked change from normal that may have been caused by other El Ninos in the last ten years.
1. Analyze data from the Weather Service for these 3 months going back ten years.
2. Note other El Nino years during this time and determine if there is a pattern in climate variations.
