El Nino Predictions - Fact or Fallacy



PROBLEM
The weather service is forecasting lower than normal temperatures and higher than normal precipitation for Jackson, Mississippi, USA, for the months of December, 1997, and January, February , 1998. (These months are considered winter by climatologists) They are also forecasting higher than normal temperatures for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D. C., USA, for those months.

HYPOTHESIS
We believe that data will support the forecasts. (Terrell, Shineika, Kim, Derrick, Selisa, Victoria, Jamaal, Anthony, Mrs. Jones)

I believe that data will not support the forecasts. (Durrell)

I am undecided if the forecasts will be supported by data. (Renee)

We agree with the forecast for Mississippi, but disagree with the forecast for Pennsylvania and Washington,D.C. (Tyrone and Zikomo)

I agree with the forecast for more precipitation and disagree with the forecasts for temperatures. (Marcus)
